St Cyprien Plage, or St Cyp as it is called locally, is a village with about 10 000 permanent inhabitants and perhaps 30 000 during the summer. There is a lot to do in St Cyprien Plage all year round. The beach is of fine sand and over 4 km long, stretching from the harbor to Canet, the next village to the north. There is also a nice beach in St Cyprien Syd, south of the harbor.

At the beach, you can windsurf, rent a jetski, go waterskiing or just enjoy the sun and the sea. St Cyp has a 27 hole golf course, a site for minigolf and close to the house there is a boulodrome where the locals meet to play pétanque, i.e. boule. In the harbor, you will see sailboats and local fishing boats that sell the catch of the day at stands. You can eat at the harbour restaurants or visit the fun fair.

Around the corner from our house, you find excellent food all year around. Closest is the fish shop Chez Fanny, and in the next block there is a butcher, bakery and greengrocer that also provides wine, cheese, ham et cetera. Starting 50 meters from the house is a local market, where you find food of all sorts, some clothes, jewelry and many other things. It is open each Friday and during summer also on Tuesdays. There are several local restaurants and bars and during summer there are additional ones on the beach. We like the closest beach restaurant, le Caliente, which attracts people all the way from Perpignan. In St Cyp or the neighboring villages you can also play tennis, visit a spa and many other things.
